Winter Acai Bowl
Blend all smoothie base ingredients in a blender. Check in with the consistency: if your smoothie is not thick enough, it won't be able to hold up the toppings. If you need to, add extra ice to the smoothie base.
Once you have reached the right consistency, pour the smoothie into a bowl. Decorate smoothie with desired suggested toppings.

Bonus Tip: How to Make a Kiwi Flower
I couldn’t believe how easy it was to make a kiwi flower (pictured). All you need to do is cut a kiwi in half and then cut a zig-zag pattern into the flesh!
CBJ HEALTH TIP: ALL ABOUT ACAI
Yep. In case you have been saying it wrong, that is how you say açaí.
By now I am sure you have seen açaí smoothie bowls all over Instagram or at your nearest juice bar, but have you ever tried to make your own at home?
HEALTH BENEFITS OF ACAI
Açaí is a purple berry that grows on the açaí palm tree and is native to Central + South America that is known for its antioxidant benefits. It is often used in superfood powders or as an addition to smoothies + smoothie bowls.
Its antioxidant levels are similar to that of cranberries and are higher than blueberries and strawberries. It is also rich in calcium, vitamin A, and heart-healthy fats including oleic acid, one of the same fatty acids found in olive oil.
While many health claims have been made about açaí from weight loss and beyond, there has not been enough substantial research to back many of these claims.
However, you can bet that açaí can still provide the benefits of antioxidants and other plant-based compounds that will benefit your overall health.
HOW TO BUY ACAI
Because açaí berries can spoil within a day of harvest, you cannot buy açaí berries in their berry form in the United States. Instead, you can find them in two consumable forms: powder or frozen packs. See above for recommended products!
Because açaí are naturally very low in sugar, beware of packs and powders that have added sugar and other sweeteners to their blend and stick to pure powdered or frozen versions. You can add your own fresh or frozen fruits to your blend to add a touch of sweetness later.
